Counselling offers you a safe, comfortable place for you to explore, reflect, find emotional release and help you to get clarity to a problem that has been troubling you. You can have the confidence to speak freely and openly without judgement or interruption, which allows you to dig deep into your inner emotions and in time, ultimately help you find your own solutions to any problems you may have. The end result; counselling can lead to an overall increased feeling of well-being, self-awareness, confidence, a greater understanding of difficulties and acceptance of challenging circumstances.
Counselling is a journey, a sometimes tough one but from the moment we begin our counselling relationship, I will be by your side as you take it. Counselling is a personal process and the relationship between us is unique. Developing a good working, trusting relationship is key to success so I will aim to make you feel as comfortable and safe as possible. As your counsellor, I am not here to give advice or tell you what to do. What I will do is listen to your concerns, help you explore coping mechanisms that work for you and look at finding new, more positive ways of thinking. I believe we all have it in us to ‘find our way’ and even in our darkest hour, can find within us our path into the light. At times, we can find ourselves stuck in a rut and I hope to be able to steer you into looking at situations or relationships in a different, more helpful way. You already have the answers within, you may simply need the space and encouragement to find them.

I offer a free 30 minute consultation (either telephone or face to face) as I appreciate choosing the right counsellor is a big and perhaps daunting decision. This is not a counselling session but will give us the opportunity to meet and discuss your requirements and for you to ensure that you are comfortable working with me.
If we are in agreement to proceed working together, we will meet usually on a weekly basis at the same time and day each week however I can be flexible as appreciate work/life commitments do not always allow for this. The sessions will last 50 mins and we will establish in the consultation session whether you wish to work to a time limited contract (usually 6-8 sessions) or an open-ended contract. Communication is key and all agreements can be negotiated throughout the time we work together.
